The Kodiak Cakes Mission

Kodiak Cakes has an interesting story. They have always wanted to sell products with great nutrition.

Instead of the usual white flour white sugar setups most pancake mixes are, Kodiak Cakes went against the current and made their pancakes with great ingredients.

These ingredients are really good for you. The whole-grains, fiber, reduced sugar, etc. all make this a great product. Here is a short video explaining their mission.

The Kodiak Cakes Team has Great Morales

I wouldn’t be writing this Kodiak cakes review if they were killing thousands of animals a day. We’ve all seen The Lorax, and know-how that plays out.

The team behind Kodiak cakes actively supports grizzly bear reservations. FACT: They raised $10,000 by doing a 5K trail race for grizzly bear protection.

Keeping these bears helps the ecosystem survive. Additionally, they also live in a beautiful mountain range. The wilderness is stunning, and they don’t want to ruin that.

Also, all of their products are Non-GMO. So if you’re against genetically modified organisms, here is the perfect product.

Do They Taste Good or Bad?

This is by far the best tasting “protein” item I have had in my life. Hands down. In fact, my friend Ian recommended them to me months ago. But, I didn’t buy them because I was worried that they would taste really bad.

Anyways, I was bulking so I figured I might as well try them out. I had to work at 5 AM every day, so I needed something easy to make before work.

Holy moly was I surprised. I literally had to check the nutrition facts over and over, because there was no way they were that good for me.

How in the world were these pancakes so healthy and so fricken’ good?

No matter the product they all taste incredible.

All Products Were Tasted For This Kodiak Cakes Review

At first, I bought the Kodiak Cakes Power Waffles. But eventually, I went to try all of the products.

The pancake mixes they sell taste the same, so whether you get it pre-cooked or you want to make it yourself it doesn’t matter.

For this Kodiak Cakes Review, we will be discussing Kodiak Cake Frozen Waffles and the Kodiak Cakes Flapjack Unleashed product line.

These are both amazing products, and really it just depends on your taste preferences. If you like flapjacks in general, buy their flapjacks. If you like waffles (like me), get their waffles. They are both super amazing products.

Kodiak Cakes Frozen Waffles Review – Taste

Starting off with my favorite! The Kodiak Cakes Power Waffles, otherwise known as the Kodiak cakes frozen waffles. This Kodiak Cakes review simply wouldn’t be complete without it.

As the name states, they are frozen. You just leave them in the freezer, and they are individually packaged until you want to use them.

The power waffles are simply amazing. For Kodiak cakes frozen pancakes cooking instructions, You toss them in the toaster and outcomes one of the most delicious products of your life.

The waffles look absolutely gorgeous, and their taste reflects it. Each package has two power waffles in it, and every bite is like heaven.

I always top mine with 1-2 tablespoons of sugar-free maple syrup and it works great.

The waffles have a really strong wheat taste to them. But surprisingly, it doesn’t ruin anything, it makes it taste really good. It makes it taste like an incredibly high-quality product.

In fact, I would go as far as to say without the wheat taste, this product would fail. We will cover more about why the whole-grain is important later.

The waffles are just incredible. Taste, size, nutrition, and appearance make this better than any other product on the market.

Kodiak Frozen Waffles Nutrition

Okay, these things taste incredible. So what’s the catch? Are these waffles going to make me incredibly overweight after eating some of them?

Actually no, they are super healthy for you.

Each pack of Kodiak frozen waffles has two waffles inside of it. These two waffles are considered one serving size.

Here are the nutrition facts on those:

Calories: 270 calories
Protein: 12 grams
Fats: 14 grams
Carbs: 27 grams
Total Sodium: 390 milligrams

So let’s break this down. Essentially you’re looking at these being under 300 calories, which is pretty low for my standards.

Most people have to eat ~2,000 calories a day, so this is roughly 10% of your calories for one of your biggest meals of the day. This low-calorie count will help you lose weight.

Secondly, it has super high protein. 12g of protein is incredible, considering most Americans don’t eat enough protein, especially if you’re into bodybuilding/fitness.

Many of my new bodybuilders need to be eating 100-150g of protein a day and they don’t get enough, these help immensely.

That protein will fill you up, help repair muscle, and make you feel better.

It has a decent amount of carbs, but it’s a food designed to give you fast energy.

If you’re on keto these probably aren’t the best move, but if you regularly plan cheat meals for your keto, these are probably your best bet.

Kodiak Cakes Flapjack Unleashed Review – Taste

Next to the Kodiak Cakes Flapjack Unleashed Review. These also taste amazing.

When you open the box, you will see in each package are three individually packaged flapjacks. Just take out the stack and microwave it.

I personally prefer the waffles over the flapjacks, but the nutrition in the flapjacks is in general better. Plus, the flapjacks feel like you’re eating more food due to the volume.

The flapjacks definitely don’t taste bad, in fact, they’re really good. But I am someone who personally likes really sweet stuff.

If you’re someone who likes more of a bold taste in their flapjacks, then this is definitely the product for you.

And for the record, there’s nothing wrong with that. I know a ton of people that don’t like their pancakes being really sweet.

So for the record, if you want a stronger taste, get the flapjacks. They are super bold and taste really good.

Kodiak Cakes Flapjack Unleashed Nutrition

If you’re wondering what the Kodiak cakes flapjack unleashed nutrition is, you’re in luck. They are way healthier than the frozen waffles, even though both are great for you.

The flapjacks come in packs of three (3) individual “flapjacks”. These three combine for one serving size, here are the nutrition stats:

Calories: 190 calories
Protein: 14g
Carbs: 30g
Fats: 2g
Sodium: 340mg

As you can see, these are pretty good for you. Sub 200 calories and super filling.

If you’re not really a fan of the waffles or want a healthier option, get the flapjacks!

Kodiak Cakes Cups Review

The Kodiak Cakes Cups Review is also included in this massive review.

Truth is, they’re really not that different from the other products.

The only difference is that it is in a cup. This really benefits people that are in a rush, or need a great snack to take to work!

Plus, they’re super cheap. You can buy them for roughly $1-2 each and get a super filling lunch at work that tastes great!

However, if you’re able to make it at home, just get the frozen waffles or flapjacks. It will be slightly cheaper and make less waste for you.

The cups are really only good for on-the-go. This is because the products taste roughly the same and are both super high quality. But if you can make them at home, it’ll save you some more money in the long run.

Are Kodiak Cakes Good For Weight Loss?

Kodiak Cakes are great for weight loss. I even recommend it to many of my clients or just fans asking me what to change in their routine.

The problem is many people for breakfast do one of two things:

  • Option A: They have a really big breakfast, running over 40-45% of their daily calories. This includes even healthy foods like eggs/bacon.
  • Option B: They don’t eat anything at all and feel horrible. They aren’t used to fasting like that and it screws up their productivity at work and makes them feel sick.

Kodiak Cakes find a great mix of providing you not only a filling breakfast but one that is healthy and low calorie.

I’m able to start my day off at 300 calories, a full belly, and tons of energy until lunch.

Plus, they’re super easy to make. Pop ’em in the toaster for a few minutes and you’ll be having the best breakfast of your life.

Really, if these weren’t filling or were causing huge hunger pangs for me, I would refuse to make this Kodiak Cakes review. That, or I would be slamming them for their horrible product.

Luckily, they have made absolutely incredible food for our health.

This means you’ll be less hungry throughout the day, resulting in you eating less. This is a win-win!

Kodiak Cakes Good For Bodybuilding?

If you’ve stumbled across this Kodiak Cakes review wondering if these are good for bodybuilding, you’re in luck.

Actually, this entire website is dedicated to bodybuilding. And I wondered the same thing.

I eagerly typed into google, “are Kodiak cakes good for bodybuilding” and got NOTHING.

So I figured I would test it out.

In May of 2019, I started my bulk and the Kodiak cakes frozen waffles and flapjacks were essential to my bulk.

I usually dirty bulk like Rich Piana, you have to eat big to get big! So, these were incredible to not only let me get great nutrition but a food that I looked forward to eating.

The large amount of protein in these waffles every morning did wonders for me.

Kodiak Cakes are AWESOME for bodybuilding. First, it gave my muscles the necessary nutrients needed to grow muscle after that long sleep.

Secondly, it filled me up. If you’re trying to bulk without putting on a lot of fat, it’s important to not overeat. This will help stop those cravings.

It also works both ways, if you’re trying to lose weight, they will keep you full so you don’t eat.

From the high protein, great taste, satiation, great nutrients, and more Kodiak cakes are just perfect for bodybuilding.

Plus if you’re on a super tough program like Arnold’s Blueprint, these are a great way to refuel.

Are Kodiak Cakes Healthy?

After coming across a Kodiak cakes thread on Reddit, I was prompted to answer the question everybody was wondering!

Are Kodiak Cakes Healthy? Well, most would suspect that Kodiak cakes aren’t healthy. But Kodiak Cakes are SUPER HEALTHY and GREAT FOR YOU!

The truth is, all of the ingredients are natural. Nothing on the ingredients list is anything foreign or confusing. In fact, the ingredients list is so short it wouldn’t scare anybody who read it.

The list is really just a simple and hearty combination of items everybody has at home. The thing about this Kodiak cakes review I hope to show you, is that this company is really just good at making you feel like you’re at home.

Eggo’s may taste nice, and be easy to make, but they don’t taste like home. Kodiak Cakes taste like home, and they are super healthy for you.

Kodiak Cakes Ingredients

For their general freezer products, Kodiak Cakes focuses on using super high-quality ingredients.

Kodiak Cakes uses 100% whole grains, not shorting anybody with flavorless/vitaminless food. They also put a ton of protein into their food and do not use any genetically modified organisms.

Additionally, the products are loaded with fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants.

There isn’t really anything bad in these products. In fact, the box just says things like whey protein, brown sugar, buttermilk, and eggs. There aren’t any suspicious ingredients in any of the foods!

This is why I love Kodiak Cakes so much, I know I am feeding my body great food that isn’t super processed or made with a ton of artificial ingredients.

Truth is I would not be making the Kodiak Cakes review if it wasn’t for their incredible product. All-natural, all awesome.

Kodiak Cakes Recipe

This lovely company also makes what they call a Kodiak Cakes Recipe.

You can view all of these recipes online for free at their website by clicking here.

So, what’s the catch? You need to be using one of their pancake mixes for these recipes.

If you have some of the pancake/flapjack/whatever mixes, these may be great for you! However, I am just curious how exactly I make cookies by using the pancake mix.

While I sound critical, it’s really not that bad of an idea if you got some leftover mix or just want to use some of the food laying around the house.

While I can’t cover all of the individual recipes in this Kodiak Cakes review, I encourage you to try it out and let me know in the comments below!

Kodiak Cakes, Where To Buy Them?

Alright, now I’ve convinced you enough to buy these things. It would be a horrible Kodiak cakes review if you didn’t know how to taste some of the best food in your life.

Generally speaking, Walmart and Target are your best bet for finding these. Many local grocery stores sell some of their products, but you’ll have to check online or in person.

Kodiak Cakes stated on their website that many places reject them due to low popularity since they are a new company. However, if you call and ask them to stock it, they may just do it.

If your local store doesn’t carry it, check out Kodiak Cake’s store locator app for places that officially carry and sell their product right here!

Krusteaz Protein Pancake Mix vs Kodiak

I’ve personally used both. I grew up with my dad cooking Krusteaz pancake mix as a kid and upgraded to the protein pancake mix as I grew older.

Truth is, just skip the Krusteaz protein mix. Kodiak’s pancake mix is 100x better. It not only tastes better, but fills you up more, and has way better ingredients and nutrition.

Krusteaz just turned into this mass of chemicals and sugar, but Kodiak tastes better and won’t ruin your body.

Conclusion

Kodiak Cakes are just awesome.

  • They’re low calorie.
  • Make a great breakfast/snack item.
  • Super easy to make.
  • Healthy for you.
  • Taste awesome
  • Cheap and affordable

There’s nothing bad about them. I’ve been buying them for almost a year now and have never looked back.

Plus, they have huge deals on Amazon that make it easy for anybody to buy.

Let me know in the comments what you think of Kodiak Cakes, and if you like them or not!
