Protein2O Review (You’ve GOT to try it!)

Typically, most protein shakes and bodybuilding drinks taste really bad, right?

I, for one, was sick and tired of the constant chugging of strangely flavored protein drinks.

But, I ran into a product called Protein2O- a product advertising high protein that you can’t even taste. They said the drink tasted delicious, had no aftertaste, and had only 80 or so calories.

I didn’t believe it, but I had to try it to test their claims.

I admit, I was wrong. This is probably one of the best drinks I’ve tasted in my life, protein aside. I would genuinely never think this is almost a ‘protein shake’ with how great it tasted. It literally tastes like Minute Maid Juice. There is no aftertaste, no clumping, nothing. You could get served this drink and never think it has 15G of protein in it.

If you’re on the fence about buying it, I highly recommend it. (And I don’t recommend a lot of products[like avoid ProteinOne bars])

These things taste like authentic fruit juice. You’d think this is all carbs or at least 300 calories, but it’s not. At 80 calories and 15G of protein, this magical drink will leave you confused how they even pulled it off.

I am a big fan of this drink, and I am glad that someone in the industry finally made a healthy protein drink that doesn’t taste like sandpaper.

It Tastes Great, Like, Too Good

I just really want to hammer this point.

It tastes nothing like a protein shake. For instance, I had the strawberry banana flavor, and it tastes exactly like a strawberry banana shake from Dairy Queen or any ice cream shop.

It literally tastes authentic, and I love it.

I have a really big sweet tooth, so this product is awesome for me.

The taste was surprising to me. I was waiting to taste the graininess or weird taste of the protein. But, none of that came.

In fact, many reviewers on Amazon sympathized with me and one of them said the protein was “thin and light” – which is the best way to describe it.

Unless you’re actively looking for the protein in the bottle- you won’t even notice it. And even when I was trying my hardest, I could only barely notice the protein sometimes when I sipped it.

Overall, this product had me questioning if there even put protein in the bottle. With how good it tastes, and the fact that you can’t even taste any grainy or gross stuff, I figured I must’ve read the label wrong or something.

Speaking of labels, what actually is Protein2O? What’s in it?

What’s in Protein2O?

So, Protein2O is pretty simple. It’s basically flavored water with protein in it.

But, they actually have a lot of different variations of the product you can buy.

You can kind of mix and match depending on your bodybuilding goals and interests.

There’s TONS of Options to Choose From

Protein2O isn’t just ‘one bottle’ you can buy. There is a ton of different options to satisfy you no matter what you’re looking for.

You Can Choose Plant Protein or Animal Protein

For instance, they have different proteins you can choose from. You can buy bottles with whey protein or plant protein for instance.

Now, on Vekhayn, I’ve always said that the type of protein you eat doesn’t really matter as long as you’re getting that protein to keep things simple.

But, for some bodybuilders, the choice can actually matter a lot. For instance, if you’re lactose intolerant, you definitely want the plant-based protein as it will be far easier to digest.

There’s a myriad of reasons I could list on why you might want different proteins. Some people don’t eat animal products, some people might just like a variety of protein in their diet.

Whatever the case is, Protein2O has you covered.

Plus, they just launched a lot of really cool plant protein bottles that have awesome blends, such as Blackberry Basil or Key Lime Coconut.

You Can Choose To Also Add Electrolytes or Caffeine

Electrolytes are like a staple for any athlete. After any serious exercise where you sweat, you lose a ton of electrolytes that are important in regulating your body.

Most cramps are caused by a loss of electrolytes. Electrolytes are critical in your body, and without them- you literally can’t survive.

Gatorade is a known brand for having electrolytes in their water. That’s why at football games or whatever you find Gatorade bins everywhere, it helps replenish the athletes so they can keep playing efficiently.

Likewise, Protein2O has a unique electrolyte blend in their drinks designed to replenish your muscles after hard workouts too, hopefully reducing cramps and keeping your energy stable.

Speaking of energy, they also have a caffeine blend. This is PERFECT for a pre-workout gym drink. You can easily have this about 30 minutes before the gym and you’ll have 125mg of caffeine pumping through you prepping you for your workout.

They Sell TONS Of Flavors

Hey, I’ve got a sweet tooth. And I am super picky on what I eat/drink.

Protein2O is perfect for me because not only do they have a ton of flavors, they have a wide variety of flavors. They have all bases covered essentially.

From strong citrus fruits like Orange to even more tame fruits like Grape, they got it all.

Here are the 15 official flavors at the time of writing this:

  • Fruit Punch
  • Dragonfruit Blackberry
  • Peach Mango
  • Tropical Coconut
  • Wild Cherry
  • Harvest Grape
  • Mixed Berry
  • Lemongrass Chamomile
  • Key Lime Coconut
  • Blackberry Basil
  • Strawberry Banana (I really liked this one)
  • Cherry Lemonade
  • Blueberry Raspberry

As you can see, not only do they have a wide range of flavors, they are good tasty flavors. There isn’t anything gross or weird like a Cow Liver flavored drink.

You think I’m joking, but there are some weird-tasting protein powders out there (looking at the disgusting Salmon flavored protein powder by Amata)- I’m glad Protein2O isn’t making anything disgusting.

Protein2O Nutrition

While this drink sounds awesome, it would be pretty useless for us bodybuilders if it didn’t have good nutrition for us.

Here’s the official nutrition stats. While it slightly varies from drink to drink, this is what most Protein2O drinks have in them.

Protein2O Nutrition Label
Protein2O Nutrition Label
  • Calories: 70 calories
  • Carbs: 6 grams
  • Fats: 0 grams
  • Proteins: 15 grams

Overall, that’s extremely solid. Especially considering there aren’t any sugars in it either.

This drink lets you enjoy it even if you’re on a cut (trying to lose weight) or on a bulk (trying to gain weight). Plus, with the emphasis on protein, you don’t need to worry about messing up the rest of your macros by drinking it.

Pricing

You’d think for such an awesome product it has to be ridiculously expensive, right?

Well, actually no. At most grocery stores you can buy this at it comes out to just like $1.50-$2 a bottle, which is incredibly fair given the amount of protein in it. (Especially considering most things like Gatorade are at the same price point)

You can also get some pretty good bulk discounts on Amazon!
